Our goal is to support writers in their endeavors by offering a venue for linking them with new audiences and potential publishers. Moreover, our magazine is designed to generate funds to provide financial support for writers through scholarships and project funding.</span></p>

<p><span style="font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: medium;">FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE (9/6/2010):</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: medium;">The online magazine <em><strong>Native Literatures: Generation</strong></em><em>s </em>announces  a call for submissions for its first award ($1,000) to support a writer  from the indigenous nations of North America and Hawai&rsquo;i. <em><strong>NLG</strong></em><em> </em>publishes  in all genres: poetry, fiction (short stories but also novel excerpts  if self-contained), creative nonfiction, drama and mixed-genre/media.  Submissions are limited to three poems, one short story (or novel  excerpt), one creative nonfiction essay, <strong>or</strong> a scene/two interrelated scenes of complete plays. Authors may submit in <strong>no more than two</strong> genres. (We prefer manuscripts be in MS Word or Rich Text format.)</span></p>
<p><span style="font-family: times new roman,times; font-size: medium;">All authors whose submissions are accepted for publication in Volume  1.3 and 1.4 are eligible for the award. (All those published will  receive a free three-month subscription; there is no &ldquo;reader fee.&rdquo;) The  recipient will be selected by a popular vote taken from all readers with  a premium subscription to the magazine. <strong>Deadline: </strong>submissions for Volume 1.3 are due by 5 October; Volume 1.4 submissions are due by 15 December.
